Do you guarantee your work?

In general we work to a policy of 'NO FIX-NO FEE', so if our work does not fix the reported problem(s) then the customer pays nothing. But there are some exceptions to this general policy. We do not guarantee our virus & spyware removal service, because it is impossible to be absolutely certain that all viruses have been removed. However, we only submit our invoice after performing multiple and powerful virus scans and they all must report the computer to be clear of infection. We can also implement security products and training that is designed to prevent malware infection occurring. We do not guarantee our data recovery service because it is impossible to guarantee the recovery of all data. We do not guarantee our work in cases where a computer is being used in a way which is the customer's responsibility and is outside of the manufacturer's recommended operating norms. We do not guarantee our work in cases where a customer has been advised of the necessary work to fix a problem(s) but declines to fully accept the advice, choosing instead a less expensive but less effective repair. Subject to these exceptions we offer a 90 day guarantee on our repair work.
Do you recover data from hard disk drives that have mechanically failed?

No, that is a job for the hard drive manufacturer or data recovery companies who have environmentally controlled facilities and spare parts for this work, and charge correspondingly high prices. If your hard drive emits rhythmic clacks, scrapes or chirps, or a continuous high-pitched squeal, or a continuous grinding or rumbling sound, then it is about to mechanically fail. You would be well advised to consult the manufacturer or a data recovery specialist. Please note that it is normal for a hard drive to make some sound, and the level of ‘normal’ sound can sometimes be varied by using special programs to change the acoustic settings for the drive. If in doubt, contact us for advice.

If the drive is not detected by your computer this can indicate a problem with the built-in electronics. We can investigate and diagnose this, in which case you would again need to consult the manufacturer or a data recovery specialist.

If the drive has defective regions on its components which record your data (these defects are called ‘bad sectors’), by using sophisticated recovery programs we can usually recover your data and restore your drive to full working order. Similarly, if you have accidentally deleted files, or formatted a drive or partition, we can usually recover your data. PLEASE NOTE:
1) AS SOON AS YOU BECOME AWARE THAT YOU HAVE LOST DATA STOP USING THE STORAGE DEVICE AND UNPLUG IT. OTHERWISE YOU GREATLY REDUCE THE CHANCES OF RECOVERING YOUR LOST DATA;
2) DATA RECOVERY IS NOT SURE TO BE SUCCESSFUL. WE OFFER NO GUARANTEE OF SUCCESS IN RECOVERING YOUR DATA;
3) THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR KEEPING REGULAR BACKUPS OF YOUR DATA;
4) IF ‘BAD SECTORS’ KEEP RECURRING ON A DRIVE, THEN IT SHOULD BE REPLACED.

Do you repair printers?

We repair software errors for printers, such as corrupted drivers. We can assist you with printer fault diagnosis, routine maintenance including the replacement of printer consumables, memory upgrades, and colour calibration and its application to digital photography. But we do not disassemble and repair/replace components in the inner workings of printers.
